Another World: Part 7

* * *

“99 bottles of beer on the wall…”

“Lissa.”

“Yeah, Trunks?”

“Shut up.” Trunks laughed to show he was kidding.

“Well SOMEBODY doesn’t appreciate a good annoying song!” Lissa grinned. They’d been walking for 10 minutes, and it turned out that Trunks and Lissa were the only ones in semi-good spirits.

“IT’S TOO HOT!” Meg hollered, stomping her foot. It stung a little, but at least the tension was gone.

“We know, Meggie. It’s too damn hot for walking. Trunks, why couldn’t you have given up your dignity and let my Tousan carry you?” Goten grumbled, kicking rocks along.

Trunks laughed. “Next time, we’ll let you get shot and you’ll be the one that gets carried.”

“Fine by me, hell, I’ll do it right now!” Goten laughed and jumped into an unsuspecting Meg’s arms.

“Gah!” Meg managed to hold him up, barely.

“My hero!” Goten half-hugged Meg, and she dropped him. “Ow, how rude.” He stuck his tongue out at her, and they all kept walking.

“Ugh, walking, walking, walking. When does it END?” Lissa looked around, and her eyes rested on a wonderful sight. “Hey guys…. Who’s up for swimming?”

“Damn you Lissa, I can’t swim in bandages!”

“Well, look, there’s a hose. We’ll spray you with that.”

They all laughed at that, but nobody stopped at the pool.

“U… G… L… Y… You ain’t got no alibi… you UGLY….” Meg muttered the song, barely managing a tune.

“But, Meggie! I thought you LOVED me?!” Goten pretended to sob on Lissa’s shoulder. “She called me UGLY!! Waaaaahhh!!”

“Goten you baka!” Lissa bopped him on the head. “Stop whining!”

“Yeah Goten. I thought you were a MAN!” Trunks flexed and girls nearby started to swoon. Lissa cackled.

“Nice going Trunks, you have a fan club!” Lissa snickered and stepped forward - right into a telephone pole. "Ack! Oh, hello pole!" She sunk to the ground.

“AH! Lissa! Are you okay?” Goten lifted her back to her feet.

“Nice going Lissa, looks like we’ll need to make another trip to the hospital!” Meg grinned and gave her a push.

Lissa glared at her. “Keep that up and we WILL!”

“Oooooh, feisty.”

Trunks grinned. “She’s fine. She’s still got some bite left in her.”

Lissa clicked her teeth together and they continued onward.

“…Are we going the right way?” Meg wondered after awhile. “I really thought Capsule Corp. was East, and doesn’t the sun set in the West?” She pointed to the sunset, which was slowly setting in front of them. Trunks did a double-take.

“Aw, shit.”

An hour later…

“I can’t believe this. Trunks, don’t you even know where you LIVE?!” Lissa rolled her eyes. They were closing in on CC, after a very long and tiring walk.

“…Maybe not.” Trunks scratched his head.

“Oh well, we’ll forgive you THIS time Trunks. But, only because you’re injured.” Meg shook her finger at him. Goten yelled and directed everyone’s attention to the now-visible Capsule Corporation building.

“YAY!” Meg and Lissa cried, Meg jumping in the air and Lissa twirling. The two guys blinked at them, took two steps away, and continued forward.

“Hey! You can’t just pretend you don’t know us!” Lissa latched onto an unsuspecting Trunks’ arm. Meg hopped on Goten’s back.

“Ack!” Goten wobbled a bit out of surprise. “Meg, you’re just lucky I’m not weak!”

Meg pulled on Goten’s ears. “Who says?” She grinned and let his ears go.

“Trunks!!” A voice sounded over to them.

“Hey ‘kaasan!” Trunks waved at her, but stopped when he saw that she was crying.

“Oh… I forgot about that.” Meg pouted and climbed off of Goten. “I called Bulma from the Hospital... I should’ve known she’d be upset..”

“Trunks!” Bulma had started running towards him, and threw her arms around his shoulders. “My poor Trunks… Oh god… I was so worried…”

Lissa sniffled. Emotional things like this always got to her.

Trunks closed his eyes. “Kaasan.. I’m ok. Really.”

Meg glanced up at CC to see Vejita staring out of one of the windows. The funny thing was, he looked concerned! His face changed in mere seconds, and he disappeared from sight. Bulma was pulling Trunks towards the house, and the other three tagged along behind.

“Kaasan!! OW!! That stuff stings!”

“Now now, Trunks. Hold still. Those hospitals never use rubbing alcohol… How do they expect to get infections out??”

“OW!”

Goten snickered. They were all sitting in the living room, and Trunks could be heard from the bathroom. Lissa was sitting on the only armchair messing around with a small computer-type thing. Meg was on the couch with Goten, had found a picture album and was flipping through it.

‘Wow…. These are… Just like in the show. That’s so cool…. Aww… Baby Trunks! Oh.. SO CUTE! Goten and Trunks! Awwwwww!!!’

“Meg, what are you looking at?” Trunks had entered the living room, looking a little embarrassed. Meg slammed the book shut and put it back on a shelf.

“Nothing!”

“…Really now.”

“Yup!”

Goten reached over Meg and snatched the book. “Hey! It’s a picture book! Woohoo!”

“Well, normal people would call it a photo album…” Trunks trailed off, and grinned at the glare he received.

Lissa’s head shot up. “Pictures? WHERE?” She dropped whatever she was playing with and dove onto the couch next to Goten. “Awwwwww!!! SO CUTE!!” Lissa pointed at a few pictures here and there, Meg agreeing with everything she said about them. Poor Goten was caught in the middle.

“If you two would-..”

“Oh look Meg! That’s when they were like 2!”

“Awww! So cute!”

“Hey.. guys. Could you two-…”

“And look here!”

“I know that one!”

“HEY! Could you two stop gushing for like 10 seconds so I can get up?!” Goten blinked as both of them stopped and stared at him. He grinned and hopped up. “Here, Liss.” He handed Lissa the photo album. She flipped it open immediately.

“Oh look! Here’s VEJITA!”

“He doesn’t look as mean in this picture…”

“Yeah, strange…”

Trunks and Goten shook their heads. They walked into the kitchen and started making some snacks. When they got back, the girls were still flipping through the pictures, naming every person in them.

“Oh! They got PICCOLO in this one!”

“Ohmygod Meg! We have to meet him. Have to.”

“Hell yes!”

“And, and… Well… We’ve met most of the other cool people.”

“I wanna visit Gokou again!”

“YEAH!”

The two girls looked up at Goten and Trunks, who were eating and watching them.

“Hey! Food!” Meg snatched Trunks’ apple and took a bite. “Yummy…”

“Fwee!” Lissa grabbed a few of Goten’s crackers and started munching them up.

“…Mental note. Don’t let them look at pictures.” Trunks murmured.

“Ditto that, they get too hyper. And get crazy ideas.”

Both guys nodded in agreement.
